Training & DevelopmentThe Leeds Safeguarding Adults Unit is implementing a multi-agency strategy for training in Safeguarding Adults. The Training and Development Action Plan for this year includes a programme of multi-agency training events, the implementation of an e-learning package and the revision of the "Training for Trainers" course to develop a pool of multi-agency trainers and enhance the number and quality of training events. We no longer provide training externally to service providers. There are three levels of formal training available, Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced. The Foundation course covers the 'Awareness raising' requirements of "No Secrets" while the Intermediate courses is suited to staff who need a deeper understanding of issues and procedures for operational purposes. The Advanced courses, when developed and available, will be for those staff who need a broader understanding of some wider issues and procedures, such as team leaders and managers associated with Safeguarding Adults. Further details of each of these areas of training are published on the Training Programme page. All courses are linked into relevant national training standards wherever possible, e.g. NVQ's. In the near future we will be seeking external accreditation of our courses to ensure the quality of training meets the needs of our partners.
